The news continues to tell us that the federal surge in Minnesota is done and troops are drawing down. But it isn’t telling the stories of businesses shutting down because there was a raid of their legal workforce. It isn’t telling you about the multiple people whose health is declining because they haven’t been to their appointments in the last six weeks. Media isn’t sharing the trauma experiences through children, families, and communities that will continue even if we had no federal presence at all. No one can get inside Whipple, and those who can are appalled with the lack of care, lack of planning, the lack of humanity.
These. Are. People.
They breathe the same air.
They are sons, daughters, moms, dads, aunties, uncles, friends.
THEY MATTER.
The lack of compassion is bone chilling.
The lack of human response is brain twisting.
And yet.
As long as our focus and energy are there, it will keep it from continually pouring into mutual aid systems. It will keep us from engaging. It will keep us stagnant.
There is no time for stagnant.
There is no return.
We are in a season of reconciliation.
Will we reconcile that our federal government is lying to us, taking full advantage of their power and stealing from us? Will we decide that is not okay and look for a full plan that is grounded in humanity, equity, reciprocity, and unconditional love? Can our elected officials lead us to a new vision? Can we create a plan?
Paint us the vision.
Show us what we are fighting for.
Keep our belief alive.
Because if you try to sell me a “stabilizing” plan, I will not bite.
That ship has sailed.
Give me something big, bold, and grounded in love.
Because this?
Nah, there isn’t any coming back from this.
There is only building forward.
Let’s demand bold.
