Why Strengths, why now?

You taking breath each day? You are leading. What kind of leader do you want to be?

“I just can’t figure out what they want to hear.”

It is one of the most heart wrenching statements I hear from clients wanting to level up their leadership.

It isn’t about figuring out what others want to hear, but how to understand what you want and need to be successful in whatever the circumstances are. 

We don’t do a great job of teaching leadership in traditional education systems.

Leadership is a skill that you develop and cannot be outsourced. Are you taking breath? Are you making choices during your day? You are leading. You are leading a team of one, but that is leadership. You start with yourself and grow from there. 

When we flip the statement to, “how can I express myself so they can hear me,” then we are onto something. 

There are a lot of leadership tools out there, but few are as accurate, validated, and global as Gallup’s CliftonStrengths®. Over 35 million people across the world have taken it to date, it is validated every three years, and there is a 1 in 33 million chance of someone having the exact ranking of their top five strengths as you. Therefore, this is a descriptive, psycho-metric measuring your wiring, not your preference. When people start to dial into their CliftonStrengths®, they are able to see how their strengths work for them, see how their strengths also have blind spots and degenerative attributes, but not focus on that.

When we focus on what is right and good about us, then it is easier to not compare ourselves to others. It is easier to observe what is right and good in others. It is easier to get curious about both. 

We are up against our brains and the world around us that are negatively biased. If we can start to build up a playlist for our brains that observes, builds, and appreciates our assets, then both our lives and leadership become lighter and more authentic.
