Spirituality as a form of resistance

Unfortunately, in the United States, the alt right have co-oped a perverse version of Christianity that has forgotten Jesus and his teachings. As they spew their hateful rhetoric, as they demand their “Jesus Land”, they are systematically holding people hostage within oppressive systems.
It is by design.
And it isn’t grounded in Jesus’s teachings, nor is it spirituality.
When we talk about spirituality, we mean your internal connection to a higher power. It is separate from any religious expression. Religion can enhance or suppress your spirituality, depending on a myriad of factors. In the end, though, your spiritual connection is a form of resistance.
When you connect to a higher power, that power is for you, for your growth, for your positive contribution to the collective we call humanity. It is well outside the confines of systems of oppression and therefore will not communicate anything that hurts you or others. When you dial into listening to your highest self, your intuition, it is the voice of possibility, the voice of wonder, the voice of “what if?” What if I didn’t believe in or perpetuate a human caste system? What if I valued my breath as sacred and therefore all humans’ breaths as sacred? What if I withheld judgement and gave compassion?
What could the world look like if I believed in my worth and value instead of believing messages designed to keep me small and resentful?
Where are your people? The people who are for you? Not the ones that cow to you, or depend on you, but the people around you who are in community with you? How are you holding each other to warm account to fulfill your soul’s purposes? How are you spending your time together? Is it in complaint or in action?
When we dial into our higher self and a higher power, the noise dulls just enough for us to reject a system that is unjust and mired in hate. It is easier for us to see how these systems are trying to hold us in place. It becomes a mission and not a wild want to contribute to community in meaningful and loving ways.
If you aren’t sure where your people are, join ours. The Grafted Roots community is a vetted, sacred space for those working tirelessly to better themselves and therefore the world: we are dedicated to personal evolution for the social revolution.
We welcome you!
